BREAKING NEWS: Donald Trump Faces Major Setback, Interrupts CNN Programming

Donald Trump has just been handed a major blow — one that’s now sending shockwaves through political circles — as new polling data reveals that his public support has taken a nosedive to unprecedented lows. According to CNN’s Chief Data Analyst Harry Enten, Trump’s numbers are not only slipping, they’ve collapsed into what Enten bluntly described as “awful, awful, awful” territory.

During a segment on CNN, anchor Kate Bolduan pressed Enten for insight into how recent developments — particularly Trump’s aggressive immigration tactics, high-profile raids across states like California, and the national protests in response — have been affecting his public approval. The answer was unequivocal.

“I think the simple word here is ‘hurt.’ It has hurt Donald Trump’s popularity,” Enten began. “We have two brand-new polls: Quinnipiac University and AP/NORC. And when we look at the net approval ratings from both, the numbers are staggering.”

Enten walked viewers through the data in real time: “In the Quinnipiac poll, his approval has dropped from -12 to -16. With AP/NORC, we’re looking at a drop from -16 to -21. That is an absolutely devastating slide. Awful, awful, awful for both of these pollsters. These are some of the worst approval numbers we’ve seen from him in this entire term.”

He emphasized just how deeply Trump’s support has eroded, saying, “Where we are right now — with Quinnipiac and AP/NORC — marks the lowest point of Trump’s approval so far. He is not just underwater, he’s way, way, way underwater.”

Enten didn’t stop there. He went on to break down Trump’s waning popularity on specific policy issues, particularly immigration — a topic long considered one of Trump’s strongest assets with his base.

“Immigration has typically been a strength for Donald Trump. That’s why earlier this week, I said this was a fight he wanted,” Enten said. “But now, maybe he shouldn’t have wanted it.”

He then presented another striking set of numbers: “If we look at Trump’s net approval on immigration, as of June 1, he was sitting at +4. Just two weeks later, he’s dropped to -2. That’s a 6-point drop — fast and significant.”

According to Enten, there’s only one major development that explains such a sharp shift: “The only notable thing that’s happened in the last two weeks is Trump’s renewed, aggressive push on immigration enforcement. And at least at this moment, Americans are clearly saying, ‘No, we don’t like this.’ Even on his strongest issue, voters are abandoning him. He is now underwater on immigration — a stunning reversal.”

Bolduan then shifted the discussion to Trump’s controversial plans for a grand military parade on his birthday — a spectacle critics have slammed as excessive, expensive, and self-indulgent.

“If immigration isn’t working for him anymore, maybe Trump is trying to change the subject,” Enten said. “So let’s take a look at the public response to his proposed military parade.”

The numbers didn’t do Trump any favors. “Only 38% of Americans say a military parade is a good use of government funds,” Enten reported. “Meanwhile, 60% say it’s not a good use of funds. That’s a huge gap.”

What’s even more telling is how this lands with independent voters — the key swing group in any election. “Among independents,” Enten added, “only 24% think the military parade is a good idea. That’s absolutely dreadful.”

Enten concluded with a sharp summation of Trump’s current standing with the American public: “This has been one of the worst polling weeks of Trump’s presidency. You’d have to go back to around his 100th day in office to find numbers this bad. But right now, he’s much closer to the trough of his popularity than the crest.”

In short, the data paints a picture of a presidency in decline — with support eroding not just on peripheral issues, but on Trump’s core platforms. With his immigration agenda backfiring and even patriotic pageantry failing to inspire, the polls suggest that Trump may be in for a far more difficult road than he anticipated.
