BREAKING BREAKING

Sen. John Fetterman indicated on Friday that he is willing to diverge from members of his own party in order to maintain strong support for Israel. Speaking during an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” he addressed the growing divide among Democrats regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and made it clear that his position is unlikely to change.

The Pennsylvania Democrat’s stance has increasingly set him apart from several of his colleagues, many of whom have voiced concerns over Israel’s military operations and have called for greater attention to the humanitarian situation affecting Palestinians. Despite this internal party tension, Fetterman emphasized that he remains firm in his views and is not prepared to soften his support. According to Fox News, he acknowledged the political risks but showed no sign of backing down.

“As Democrats continue to abandon Israel, I’ll be the last man standing if that’s what’s necessary,” Fetterman stated, underscoring both his commitment and the widening ideological gap within his party. His remarks highlight a broader and deepening disagreement among Democrats over how to approach the conflict.

Fetterman also strongly defended Israel’s recent military actions, including operations connected to Iran and Lebanon. He expressed confidence in Israel’s decision-making and rejected the idea that the country had made errors in its handling of the situation in recent weeks. When asked directly by host Laura Ingraham whether he believed Israel or Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had made any missteps, Fetterman responded unequivocally.

“No, absolutely, absolutely not,” he said. “Israel’s done what was necessary,” reinforcing his belief that the country’s actions are justified given the circumstances.

These comments come at a time when a number of Democratic lawmakers have become increasingly critical of Israel’s campaign in Gaza, pointing to civilian casualties and the worsening humanitarian crisis. In contrast, Fetterman signaled that he is prepared to break with his party if needed in order to maintain his pro-Israel position.

“I’m the last Democrat, honestly, that’s proud to stand with Israel,” he remarked. “I can read polls and see how unpopular Israel is, but I’m proud to stand with Israel throughout all of this,” he added, acknowledging public opinion while remaining resolute.

In addition to his defense of Israel, Fetterman expressed support for President Donald Trump’s military strategy, including actions taken against Iran. He referred to what he called Operation Epic Fury and said he was puzzled by the lack of broader Democratic backing for such measures. In his view, Iran represents a significant threat, and confronting its leadership is a necessary step.

“They’ve been the evil regime, and I think eliminating their leadership is a strong development,” Fetterman said. He went on to argue that, despite political disagreements, Americans should unite behind the country’s military efforts during times of conflict.

Fetterman also criticized Democratic efforts to advance a War Powers Resolution aimed at limiting the president’s authority to engage in military action without congressional approval. He questioned the timing of such a move, suggesting it was unnecessary given indications that the conflict might soon de-escalate.

“Why would you be voting every day at this point?” he asked. “We are so close at this point to shutting this down,” he said, referencing recent remarks suggesting the possibility of an end to hostilities.

Beyond policy disagreements, Fetterman encouraged public figures and individuals with influential platforms to direct their criticism toward Iran and its allied groups rather than Israel. He framed both the United States and Israel as fundamentally aligned forces working toward stability and security in the region.

“America’s not perfect, but we are the force of good, as Israel is,” he said. “If you have a platform and if you want to criticize someone, criticize Iran, criticize Hamas, criticize Hezbollah,” he added.

Overall, Fetterman’s comments reflect a broader and increasingly visible divide within the Democratic Party. While some lawmakers advocate for a more critical approach to Israel and a stronger emphasis on humanitarian concerns, others—like Fetterman—remain firmly committed to supporting Israel as a key U.S. ally, even if it means standing apart from their own party.
