WITNESS TO WILD LOSS
A young elephant was k*lled by a truck while crossing a highway with its mother in Perak, Malaysia, early 11 May, prompting a wave of public sympathy after a video showed the mother standing over her calf’s body.
The five-year-old male di*d instantly, according to wildlife officials. The mother, estimated to be 25 years old, remained by his side for hours.
